The highest point in all of Utah is at the top of Kings Peak. The four day scramble up the mountainside is full of extraordinary, truly breathtaking views, and is only difficult because it requires good physical condition.

The first day of the hike is easy–going, with a very gentle increase in elevation as you leave Henrys Fork. The second day of the hike will lead you pass quaint lakes between Bear Lake and the bottom of Gunsight Pass that are perfect for picture taking. The third day of hiking will have you gain 2,120 of elevation in only 2.9 miles, making the final ascent to the peak a little more difficult than the first two days of hiking.

On the final day of hiking you will not pass any more lakes, but the last area is home to many moose families, and you will most–likely see a moose if you keep your eyes open on your way to the end of the trail.

The trail to Kings Peak is well maintained and is extremely popular during late August, when the weather is just right and most of the snow has melted.
